Keep the kids active this summer at David Lloyd Clubs

For kids, the summer holiday is the break they’ve been looking forward to for weeks. For parents, though, summer comes with the added pressure of figuring out how to keep children entertained, often while juggling the demands of their jobs.

With a wide range of activities, dedicated kids facilities and fully-trained experts, at David Lloyd Clubs, we’ve got plenty to keep your little ones busy during the summer and beyond. What’s more, with Wifi and laptop charging points, our Clubrooms can be excellent workspaces – so if your job allows, you can get on with work while the kids meet new friends and pick up a new sport. Read on to find out more about the family-friendly kids summer activities we have to offer.

Sign the kids up for Holiday Club

Getting children involved in sport from an early age is a fun way to keep them active. There are many benefits to kids learning new sporting skills, such as:

  • Promoting healthy growth of bones, muscles, ligaments and tendons
  • Improving coordination, balance and specific sporting techniques
  • Learning teamwork and good sporting behaviours
  • Opportunities to socialise and build friendships

Help your child to get started by signing them up for our Holiday Club, which takes place throughout the school summer holidays. Running each weekday, it’s a half day of pure fun for kids aged 5-11. They’ll develop their sports skills with daily tennis lessons and coaching for one additional sport, including athletics, football, basketball and hockey. We’ll also provide a fresh fruit smoothie, a piece of fruit and a cookie to keep their energy levels up.

And if your child would rather focus on one sport, we run several classes and activities, including football classes that are designed to help those as young as 18-months learn the game. We also offer Junior Tennis coaching for kids to help them improve their tennis skills, as well as swimming lessons for kids that teach safety in the water and promote good technique from an early age.

Keep them engaged with a unique class or a specialist workshop

The key to making sure your kids get in the habit of exercising is finding activities they genuinely enjoy doing. Mix exercise with creativity, and add in the opportunity to learn while making new friends and you can set your child on the way to a lifelong love of a sport or activity. With classes such as Action Squad and Design Squad, we have plenty of fun, creative classes tailored to a range of age groups.

Not only do the kids look forward to going to a session every week, but parents can look forward to having a little time to themselves to enjoy a workout, catch up with work or use the spa, safe in the knowledge that we’re keeping the little ones entertained and active.

If you’re looking for something a bit different, check out Scooter Squad, one of the most popular classes for kids at David Lloyd Clubs. Our exclusive Scooter Squad sessions are all about making new friends, mastering scooter tricks and learning scooter safety. Children aged 3-11 are welcome to join to develop their skills and have fun on 2 wheels.

Plus, we’ve also developed unique workshops, which offer youngsters the opportunity to engage their imagination in each 2-hour session. The programme includes activities focussed on everything from superheroes and fashion, to cricket and basketball – perfect for children of all interests.

Make it a family event

Kids learn by example, so finding ways to involve the whole family in staying active can make a huge difference. Introduce your kids to the gym with a family Group Exercise session or sign up for Battlebox Family Play, a teamwork-driven workout that can make fitness a fun family experience.

Plus, throughout the summer, make lasting memories with Summer at the Club. Enjoy a resort-style atmosphere with lively music and fun family activities, including family splash parties, face painting, pizza making and plenty more!

David Lloyd Clubs has something to ensure everyone in the family enjoys a summer full of staying active. Interested in joining? Find a David Lloyd Club near you.
