Every year at David Lloyd Clubs we host our Tennis Stars National Championships. This much-loved competition brings together children of all ages from our Tennis Stars programme to compete against one another in the hope of helping their Club become overall winners.
What makes the competition unique is that players in each age group can play together, representing their Club as a team. The groups are Red (5-8), Orange (8-9) and Green (9-10).
How it works
The event kicks off with individual Club champions being crowned for each age group. After that, these winners are put in a team to represent their Club in one of eight regional rounds.
The regional rounds are broken down into matches: boys’ singles, girls’ singles, and mixed doubles. All of these take place across the three age groups.
Following the regional rounds, the winning teams compete in the National Finals, battling it out to be overall champions.
The current champions

David Lloyd Bristol Long Ashton are the reigning champions and defended their title from 2023. David Lloyd Finchley have been very close runners up in the last two years so will be looking to go one better in 2025. Don’t worry about the runners up missing out, though: all our players receive prizes, thanks to our partner, HEAD. Here at David Lloyd Clubs, everyone’s a winner!
The champions are:
- Noah Paddock
- Lucy Pollen
- Max Houghten
- Violet George
- Ruben Baker Drey
- Lyla Clothier
The 2025 competition
This year’s competition begins in September within the Clubs. It will then continue to the Regionals on 8th and 9th November, followed by the Regional Play-offs on 22nd and 23rd November. The National Finals will take place on 6th December, where the winner will be crowned 2025 National Tennis Champions.
What our members say
The event has been hugely successful. Members of different ages interact, support and cheer one another on, creating an amazing atmosphere for everyone. Just listen to these proud parents:
“Last year’s National Champions was team tennis at its best. A fantastic format allowing all the ages groups to support each other while competing against the best players across David Lloyd Clubs. An incredible event!”

“The tournament was fun and inclusive for the three age groups. It was great to see the children and parents come together who thoroughly enjoyed the experience and played for, supported each other as a Club and team.”
