Team up. Turn up. Take on the challenge.
The annual BLAZE Community Games bring together teams across David Lloyd Clubs for a fitness experience that’s as much about strategy and teamwork as it is about sweat.
Let the games begin…
What are the BLAZE Community Games?
Think of it as your favourite BLAZE class… with a competitive edge.
The BLAZE Community Games bring members together in teams of three for a high-energy HIIT challenge that blends cardio, strength and combat. You’ll move through the workout side by side, building a team score as you go.
It’s fast. It’s loud. It’s the kind of session where you forget you’re “working out” and just get caught up in it.
And yes, there’s a leaderboard. But this isn’t just about chasing points. It’s about that moment when your team digs in, pushes harder and somehow finds another gear.
How does it work?
Each Club hosts a series of BLAZE Community Games heats.
You and your team take on the same format each time, earning points based on your combined effort across the workout. Your score goes onto a national leaderboard, so every session counts.
Not happy with your first attempt? Go again. And again. (Honestly, that’s half the fun.)
Who can enter?
If BLAZE is included in your membership, you’re in.
Regular? Great. First-timer? Even better. The workout is designed so everyone can contribute, whether you’re sprinting it out on the treadmill or finding your rhythm on the floor.
How do I enter?
Book into a BLAZE Community Games heat via the app with your team of three. No overthinking. No complicated sign-up. Just pick a slot and go.
Do I have to be in a team?
Team of three? Sorted. No team? Also sorted.
If you’re flying solo, just speak to a BLAZE Supervisor at your Club. They’ll match you up with like-minded members and get you straight into the action.
Because the BLAZE Community Games aren’t about who you know. They’re about showing up and getting stuck in.
How is it scored?
This is where teamwork really kicks in.
Your score is built from:
- Time spent working at higher intensity
- Distance covered on the treadmill
- Reps completed across strength and combat
Go too hard too soon and you’ll burn out. Play it too safe and you’ll leave points behind. The sweet spot? Finding your team rhythm and backing each other all the way through.
Can I try again?
Yes, entries to the heats are unlimited, so you can enter as many times as you wish to submit your best score.
What happens next?
Once the heats wrap up:
- The top teams across the UK head to the UK final
- The winners go on to compete in the international final
So yes, there are stakes. But also… there’s the group chat energy when your team starts climbing the leaderboard.
What do we win?
Trophies. Prize bundles. Serious bragging rights.
But also? That post-session feeling when you all look at each other like, “We actually smashed that.”
Why take part?
Because workouts feel different when you’re in it together.
The BLAZE Community Games are about:
- Laughing between stations (and then immediately regretting it)
- That nod of “we’ve got this” mid-workout
- Pushing harder because someone next to you is doing the same
It’s movement that feels good. Community that feels real. And a reason to come back and do it all over again.
