100 Beats Per Minute Playlist

We all know that music and exercise go together like peanut butter and jelly. Research by the BBC has recently shown that walking to music of around 100 beats per minute (BPM) can offer the optimal “brisk walking” pace.

One of the problems with trying to “walk briskly” is that few of us really know what that means. However, with this handy playlist you’ll soon be on your way to those 100 paces a minute thanks to likes of ABBA and Beyoncé.

And 100 BPM isn’t just the optimal walking pace. It can also help save lives when performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). While there are several steps to performing CPR effectively, one of the most important things you should do is chest compressions at the rate of 100 BPM. That’s where the music comes into play. The tempo for each of the songs on our playlist below comes in between 100 -120 BPM, providing you with the perfect guide to nailing and timing those potentially life-saving compressions.

However you use it, we think this 100 BPM playlist is one you need to get following on Spotify!

We hope you enjoy all the many benefits of walking. However, if you’re thinking about picking up the pace, check out our guide to getting started with running. We have a 120 BPM playlist and a 130 bpm playlist that will help you move faster. Need more speed? We have a 160 bpm playlist and a 180 BPM playlist for when you’re ready to increase your running tempo.
