Rio Woolf was born without a tibia, knee or ankle joint, and had to have his lower right leg amputated just 14 months into his life. Despite this, sports-mad Rio has never allowed his leg to prevent him from enjoying an active, energetic lifestyle that many boys of his age are able to lead.
Since he was very young, Rio and his parents have been members at David Lloyd Bushey, a centre which has helped them to focus on their son’s ‘abilities rather than his disabilities’, through taking part in both our DL Kids and All Stars programmes. This has also allowed Rio’s parents to enjoy time to themselves whilst Rio is having fun with friends, giving them the opportunity to spend an hour in the gym or to relax in the club’s lounge areas.
Take a look at their story below, and find out how David Lloyd has enhanced family life.
