Wellness, and an awareness of your own physical and mental wellbeing, has never felt more important. At David Lloyd Clubs, we believe that a balance of exercise, nutrition, mindfulness and sociability are the keys to wellness and to sustaining a positive and healthy life.

Over the course of the next few weeks, we’ll be hosting a series of live meditation classes led by a health and wellbeing expert. Running every Sunday evening at 7.15pm, you can enjoy a 15 minute session designed to help you to relax and find a sense of balance and harmony, followed by a short Q&A session.

The series of live sessions will cover the following themes:

  • Finding peace through meditation
  • Full Moon meditation
  • Sleep easy meditation
  • Valentine’s Day Loving Kindness Meditation
  • Mindful meditation
  • Meditation for positivity
  • Breath work
  • Meditation to unwind

So whether you’re busy working as a critical or key worker, juggling home schooling the kids with important Zoom calls, or generally just finding another period of lockdown to be a challenge, we hope that we can go some way to easing those pressures as you head into each new week.

What is meditation and what are the key benefits for me?

Meditation generally starts by finding a quiet place, closing the eyes and focusing on your breathing. When we meditate, we are training the mind to slow down, ignore distractions and become more focused on the present moment.

Meditation can have both mental and physical benefits. It can be a great way to reduce your stress levels, manage anxiety, and to find peace of mind, as well as changing your mindset and perspective to be more positive.

Reducing stress levels can have a positive physical impact too, such as reducing blood pressure and lowering your heart rate, which can lead to higher energy levels and better immunity and quality of sleep.

Who will be leading the sessions?

The sessions will be led by Carlie Barlow, who has over 17 years of experience working within the health & fitness industry. Carlie specialises in creating wellbeing programmes and products, and is a strong believer in creating a holistic view of your health and well-being, as well as an advocate of balancing physical, mental and emotional health.

Carlie is a qualified yoga, Meditation, Sound Therapy, Tai Chi, Qigong and Breath-work teacher and is incredibly passionate about supporting others to live a happier, healthier lifestyle.

How do I get involved?
