It can be difficult to find the motivation to get outdoors to exercise, particularly when the weather isn’t at its best. However, outdoor activities which involve the whole family can be a great way to bond and relax as a family, especially when so much time is being spent sat inside at home.
For kids, time spent in the great outdoors enables them to explore new environments, burn off energy and engage their curiosity.
So, to help you keep your children healthy and active outdoors we’ve launched the David Lloyd Mile.
What is the David Lloyd Mile?
The David Lloyd Mile challenges you and your children to get out on a daily basis to cover a distance of 1 mile.
Whether you decide to run, walk, cycle, skate or scoot is up to you, but we’d love you to share your activities with us via our dedicated Facebook group, where you can join our community of fellow parents and children.
To get involved and start sharing your activities, join the Facebook group here.
You can also share your activities via Instagram using the hashtag #DavidLloydMile
Plus, we have created rewards and certificates which will help to provide added motivation, as well as a sense of competition that many young children can thrive from.
These will include a Star of the Week award, which will be chosen every Friday based on the week’s most impressive achievement. To be in with a chance of winning, make sure you post a picture of your activity on the Facebook group. We’ll also award certificates and badges to recognise distance milestones your kids manage to reach. Certificates are awarded when your child reaches 5, 10 and 20 miles, and you can download your certificates below:
And if your child reaches the magical marathon milestone of 26 miles, we will send them their very own badge to mark their achievement! To claim your child’s badge, please click here.
If you’re not a member of David Lloyd Clubs, and you’re keen to see how else we can help you to stay active while our Clubs are closed, find out more about David Lloyd Clubs @home.
